First post!
Getting Version Control (VC) up and running.

Let’s get the ball rolling, shall we? It’s just after 10 a.m. here in Ontario, the son is down for his nap, and it’s time to try and get some game development done with the little bit of free time I have! However, I also need to start working on this blog before I put it off any longer. Haha.

You may be wondering why someone juggling a family, a full-time job, staying active, and trying to squeeze in as much Indie development on his RPG game as humanly possible would also want to take on the task of keeping up with a devlog/blog. Well, it’s twofold. On one hand, it’s nice to reflect and put to paper (or in this case, pixels) what I’ve accomplished since my last post, go over things, and have an opportunity to receive feedback throughout the early stages of development. On the other hand, it also acts as a repository of my thought process—why I did what I did as we go. This will definitely help if I ever need to take an extended break from working on the project. I can come back, reflect on these posts, and think, “Oh yeah! That’s what I was doing and where I was heading with this,” rather than solely relying on re-reading code and comments.

So far, today’s adventure has been minimal. I got GitHub Desktop installed so I can finally start using version control on the project before I get too deep into the weeds. Fortunately, the app is pretty straightforward, and it didn’t take much time at all to set up and create my repository.

Outside of the devlog, I’m hoping to work on the “About” page a little bit later, and hopefully, in the coming week, I’ll give a bit of insight into the project as a whole. If you’re reading this, thanks for taking the time to follow along! Otherwise, I’ll just keep shouting into the void—it’s cathartic anyway. Haha.
