A Model Home & Site Changes

It seems my home has turned into a modeling sanctuary, with the Godot Engine stranded at the far reaches of the universe! Well, not exactly, haha, but I haven’t been able to dedicate as much time to the Engine side of things as I would have liked.

It’s been a busy week at my day job, leaving very little time for development, including my 3D lessons. Coming back to these lessons with fresh eyes, however, has been a great experience. I realized the challenges I had encountered while moving into rigging, so I spent much of the week watching shorter videos on the topic to help clarify things for when I’d have time to sit down and continue the course on my own. This approach helped me better grasp the concepts, and I eventually decided to delete my entire armature and redo the entire chapter. Not only was this a much more enjoyable experience than the first time, but I also feel that the concepts began to stick. I managed to get through the entire section—rigging, posing, and rendering—completing the third project of the course (as seen in the image above).

Although I haven’t had much time to focus on the engine side of things, much of that knowledge is still fresh in my mind, and I don’t feel like I’ve lost any ground there. I know the next week or two will also be busy for me at my day job, so I’m not expecting to make significant progress. I think I’ll continue to focus on 3D for now, with the next section covering sculpting. It’s another big topic but an essential one in the game development workflow. This course doesn’t cover animation or skinning, so I’ll need to find additional resources for those areas. Since the course materials are focused on simple textures, I feel that once I finish this course, I’ll be ready to start the base character model for the game and begin experimenting with important concepts like blend shapes, visual gear switching, and more.

Updated Website Subscriptions

As I'm not currently looking for paid members, since I do not have tutorials or extra content to provide for such a subscription, I have removed that as an option to also hope garner more free subscribers to engage in the posts I do!
